An electrical fire broke out at an Englishtown Road home early Monday after a dump truck swerved to avoid a group of deer and knocked down a utility pole, police and fire officials said.
Firefighters were at scene for nearly six hours to put out the fire and to deal with about 100 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled from the truck after the crash, said Bob Verney, chief of the South Old Bridge Fire Company.
The 37-year-old driver was traveling near 1711 Englishtown Road at 6:10 a.m. when he swerved to avoid the deer and struck the pole, Lt. Robert Moser said. ...
