Old Bridge contractor garage destroyed in fire

An electrical problem sparked a fire that destroyed a detached garage at Brasusa Masonry Contractors on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

The fire fully engulfed the garage at 3011 Englishtown Road, South Old Bridge Fire Chief Robert Verney said Wednesday.

South Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Company members responded to the blaze at 5:02 p.m., and the Middlesex County Hazardous Materials Response Unit was called to help clean up acetylene and hydrocarbons that leaked from drums stored in the garage, Verney said.
